Description
This food safe, ten sided, fluted and slightly flared tasting cup is an extrapolation from a partial mould in the Herbert Museum’s archive collection in Coventry.
The mould fragment came from an excavation of a 14th C Pewterer’s workshop.
The maker has used the same stone as the original is made of, (english White Lias) and the mould has developed the same heat stress cracks as the original.
Slush cast in pure tin, this small cup holds 15ml, or 1/2 oz – about 18ml if you fill it to the brim.
It stands 38mm tall and is 30mm across at the top.
Average weight 34g
The two mould pictures are of the original.
