Depicting the sport of hawking, the figure is elaborately costumed and even the horse harness decorated with bells. Falconry was the pursuit of royalty and the very well-to-do and was widely supported as a rural sport.
Badge making did not only serve a religious market. It occupied a position in all aspects of life as for example, political and military to show allegiance, celebrate amorous intent, and indicate sporting interests, often with a satirical flavour.
