Description
This brooch is meant to represent the sword with which Becket was murdered. The boss is raised into a point and the beautiful openwork is set off by a backing against which the pewter shines.
The original after which we copied this brooch was found in Salisbury. It is dated to the late 14th or early 15th century on the basis of the shape of the buckler and of the quillons of the sword.
