Eating spoon #2; Chalice
Time period:Late 13th Century
Materials: Food Grade Pewter
Product Dimensions:Length 17.5 cm
Circa 1275; This spoon is based on a silver original. The decorative motifs of spoons of this and earlier centuries are significantly different to that of later spoons. In this example there is a small animal head at the point where the shaft meets the bowl, with geometric designs and shapes into the shaft decoration.
This is the earliest period spoon currently available and the only one following the earlier shape and style of decoration. The casting process has left the finish of this particular run of spoons quite matt in finish and would benefit from a further buffing/polishing.
