Further details:
A more subtle profane badge; the Rooster or Cockeral was a symbol of lust, lechery and amorous intent. Not surprisingly, such self confidence became known as ‘being cocky’.
Potted history;
Badge making did not only serve a religious market. It occupied a position in all aspects of life as for example, political and military to show allegiance, celebrate amorous intent, and indicate sporting interests, often with a satirical flavour.
