Stirrup Ring

Stirrup rings, with their high peaked stone setting, were common and popular from the 12th into the 15th century. This ring is a melding/pastiche of two base metal stirrup rings in the Museum of London: a pewter ring cast with a “false stone” – a bump in the pewter where the stone would be – and a bronze ring set with a glass cabochon.
