Part of the “Early 17th Century Food Series”. “This brief work deals with menus for feasts and banquets from the period 1580 to 1660. Reproduced here are many of the published menus from the period. In some cases, such as the menus reproduced in the Book of Cookery (1629) and The Good Huswifes Jewell (1596), the menus appear to be miscopied versions of that in the Good Huswifes Handmaid for the Kitchen and therefore they have been omitted”.
