The purpose of this short study is to present the Battle in the words of contemporaries. The sources are neither so extensive or demanding as to make this an impossible task. My objective will be to provide a commentary and notes on the proceedings as they are recounted in the words of their observers. Before that I will attempt to place the battle in its historical context and provide a brief survey of warfare at this time.
