Ship crewed by phallus sailors and with phallus bird in the rigging. In this example the badge maker was either just having a bit of fun and conjuring a strange subject from the depths of his imagination, or was he making a satire on one of the popular pilgrim badges from Canterbury, which showed Saint Thomas Becket sailing home from exile in just such a scene?
